"Stand By Me"

A short story written by Stephen King, turned
into a movie.

The narrator, who is a writer Gordie, is played
by Richard Dreyfus, which was immediately known
by his distinct voice.

He is telling us about the Labour Day weekend
when he was 12 years old and what he and his
three mates got up to.

I knew right away that Will Wheaton played the
young Gordie, he is of course best known for his
role in Star Trek.

Corey Felman played Teddy, I don't think I have even
heard of him before.

Gordie's best mate was Chris, a solid kid (not fat)
but made for scrapping. So I was astonished to find
that the boy playing this part was River Phoenix,
but even more amazed to find that the last of the
four, Vern, a fat stupid kid was played by Jerry
O'Connell, whom I think has got hotter as the years
have passed.

John Cusack played Denny, Gordie's older brother,
who was killed in a car accident.

Kefier Sutherland played the leader of the local bad
boys, who were the bane of Gordie and his friends.

A coming of age story that really made one weep.
