Sue and Allen's Xmas Eve Bar Be Que

To retrace, Cliff and I and usually Ross attend Sue and
Allen's party every year. Sue frantically rings every
week for three months to remind us it is on and then in
the last two weeks it is every day. She also sends me
emails, but this year there was not a peek out of her
and I thought maybe they were not holding it this year.

It just turns out I had forgotten to give her my new
email and that Cliff had not mentioned to me once that
it was on. But not knowing I had booked a table at the
Traralgon RSL and when I told Cliff the week before
he said what about Sue and Allen's party and I said
"Is it on/" and he said "Of course" and I said "BUT
YOU NEVER SAID A THING" and he said "I didn't think
I had to!!!! So he must really thing I'm a mind reader!

About 5.50 p.m. as I was about to walk out my door my
stomach rumbled and I had to go to the toilet and I
thought "Oh no let it not be a bout of diverticulitis."
But I went with Cliff and had about 4 chicken wings and
if I thought Cliff over the Bar Be Que cooking he has
nothing on Allen they were burnt to a cinder on the
outside and just cooked right on the inside. But I had
no sooner finished eating at 7 p.m. than I had to run to
the toilet and I knew then that it was the div..!

But it was the first time I had really enjoyed one of
their parties as usually I have no one to talk to, but
I sat and was mesmerised by the tattoo lady, this was
the first time I had meet her. She is a friend of Sue's
called Linda, and had an opinion on EVERYTHING. Some I
agreed with some I thought she was talking through her
hat, even though she was not wearing one. I think Iiked
her, she was so upbeat.

I have NEVER liked tattoos, though I know there are
people who think they are art, I still regard the people
who wear so many as freaks in a show. I am appalled at
the health risks and the terrible waste of money. This
lady seemed to have them from her ankles to her elbows
and was PROUD of them. I was disgusted.

My late husband had tats on his arms when I met him and
I explained how I felt about them and he said he would
not get any more so I was appalled the day he came home
whit one with my name on it as if that would make it all
right. He did have the name removed and put the name of
our three children on it instead. (Still did not like it!)

To add injury to insult even knowing how I felt all three
of my children have tatts though thank god the two girls
only have them where they can't be seen unless undressed!

Xmas 2010

Disapointment again! Xmas this year was to be at Kath's.
After all she sayd it is easier for everyone else to get
to their place rather them dragging around FIVE children
which includes a toddler (in nappies) and a new born baby.

It was to start about 4.30-5.00 p.m. but at 2 p.m. I ran
to the toilet for thr eight time in 18 hours and suddendly
started to burn up, the sweat just dripped off me and I
began to hyperventilate and to feel claustrophobic. By 2.30
p.m. I was vomiting into the sink.

I went and woke Cliff up and told him he needed to take me
to the hospital. He went and had a showet and we got there
by 3 p.m.

The triage nurse had to treat two people in front of me and
I got to see him about 3.20 p.m. he took my blood pressure
which was normal for me 125 over 85 but my temperature was
35 which is a little high, but from the time we had entered
the hospital and the air conditionong hit me I gegan to feel
better.

I was given a name tag and told to wait in the waiting room.
At 4 15 p.m. I send Cliff with a list of things he had to do
and to pick up Don's kids from Karen;'s to take to Yallourn
Nth.

After he left I realised i still had the camera and rang and
told him on the way to my place he'd have to come back to
the hospital to pick up the camera as Meg's had no pictures
left on it.

By the time he came back I was in an examinating room and on
a drip. The nurse took a blood sample, she tried the back of
my right hand and of course the vein collapsed almost
immediately, so she went for the crook of the left elbow and
this time was successful. The doctor said it could be
between 2-3 hours before the results were back. Which is
terrible slow! Cliff arrived just as the doctor siad that so
I told him to go and I would ring and let him know when the
test was back. It was 5 p.m. by then.

The test was back by 7.20 p.m. and my white cell count was
not very elavated but there was a small increase in one of
the enzymes from 60 to 100, which ment that something was
going on in my gut!DUH!!! The doctor said there was no need
for meto stay overnight, but I would be on the trip for
another hour.

I rang Cliff and told him that and I would ring when it had
finished for him to come and pick me up. About ten minutes
later Donald rang and made all the kids wish me a Merry Xmas
and thank me for their presents!

I rang Cliff about 7.50 p.m. to tell him to leave about 8.30
p.m. but he walked in just as his phone started to ring. As
the doctor said that she would give me a note for my doctor
and some medication to take home.

The nurse came in to take the drip out when it had finished
at 8.20 p.m. but checked with the doctor first to see if
she wanted to put in anything else first and was told not
it was fine to remove it.

The doctor came in about twenty minutes later with a packet
of antibotics for me but as soon as I saw it I asked was it
penicillin based and she said it was and I told her that I
was allergic and she THEN READ THE CHART AND SAW THAT IT
WAS WRITTEN ON THERE. It took another twenty minutes for
her to come back with another bottle. I reminded her about
the letter, and it was another twenty minutes before she
bought that back but she had said as she left that the
resident doctor would have to see me before I left. The
resident came in ten minutes later looked at the chart and
then said I would need another DRIP with antibodics to
kick start me as it would take awhile for the tablets to
start working.

So the nurse came back in and of course the left elbow vein
collapsed and we had to try the right so I ended up with
all these bruise which even today look awful.

By 10.15 p.m. we were back at Cliff's! Kath had send a
SMALL plate of food for me, but it barely touched the sides,
I had not ended since I had finished the bar be que at Sue
and Allen's on Xmas Eve.

The Rush To Xmas

I really love this time of year. I have always
done so I approach Xmas with the expectations of
a child, all hopefull that I will get great
presents!!

Yet even as a child Iwas continually disappointed.
I did not mind too much about getting clothes as
long as they were not school uniforms but I hated
it when the toys I got were usless. Who gives an
only child a game of Scrabble and Monopoly and
never plays with her? Well my parents did!!!

Worse were the dolls that came with REAL boxes of
Lux soap flakes to wash the doll's clothes with,
in a wash bowl with pegs. I hated helping Mum hang
out the clothes as the washing was always slapping
me in the face, though I liked to run up and down
between the sheets so Mum didn't know whereI was!

For many years my late husband gave me 'household'
items for Xmas e.g. sheet sets, irons and pot sets.
Yet he didn't like it when he got hammers, drills
and other 'boy's toys.'

In the end we found it better to just use our money
to buy our own gifts and wrap them and give them to
ourselves.

Even Cliff is terrible at buying me gifts, and when
he does hit on a good one he usually ruins it by
giving it to me straight away! This year he gave
me a great gift it was a calandar for next year but
a scrapbooking one with all the extra bits and pieces
with colour sheets on the back of each month so when
the month is finished you have a lovely sheet of paper
for your photos. But he gave it to me over six weeks
ago when he first bought it!

Better though than when he bought me plants because
that was what his late wife loved! Despite the fact
that I told him for 5 years that I have not only two
brown thumbs but 8 brown fingers as well.

But once again hope springs enternal and I am waiting
with baited breath for Xmas 2010.

Is Target Falsely Advertising Sale Items?

You be the judge! I saw in last weeks catalogue
that Quilt sets were 20% off, the sale also included
'bed linen accessories' so on Wednesday, the last
day of the sale I went into the Morwell store and I
bought a quilt set, a sheet set and two pillow cases.

When I got to the till, the quilt set and the pillow
cases came up with the 20 % off but not the sheet set.
I asked about this and was told that it is not an
accessory.

An accessory in the dictionary is defined as
"something decorative, a minor fitting."

I would have thought that bed linen accessory would
have included sheet sets as well. I think if they
were not having these on special it should have
stated 'does not include sheets or sheet sets.'

Welcome Dayne Nathan Cook

Kath had her baby on Friday at 9.17 p.m. and I was
right! despite the two scans and the nurse saying
it was a girl, it was a lovely little 6 1/2 pound
boy!

Of course that threw a spanner into the works! As
Kath had gone out and bought everything in pink!

Toss had gone to schoolies with Emma to supervise
her but left a week ahead of time in case the baby
arrived early as she has as yet not seen one of
Nathan children being born. She did not make it
this time either Nathan was outside ringing her
to ask where she was as the baby was nearly here
and she had driven straight from the Gold Coast
through to the hospital and was only at Moe and
when he went back inside it was to be told the
baby was here and it is a boy! I was there for
Talhia and just after Jasmine arrive but Kath
did not even ring me this time till about 10.45
a.m. on the Saturday morning. iwas in the Optus
shop buying my new phone when the call came in
and when she said it was a boy I just let out a
hoop and a hollow every one looked at me and I
explained that my daughter had just told me that
she had a little boy.

Toss had to go out first thing Saturday morning and
buy blue and in a size 0000 which turned out to be
too large! he just fits into a size 00000!!!

Mum and baby went home Sunday afternoon and he was
finally named on Monday!

The House that Sam Built!

Was watching "I Dream Of Jeannie" on Go the other night
and Major Healy is going to marry Jeannie's sister at
Dr. Bellows house and that house is the one that Darren
and Samatha Stevens live in! Which is the show on
immediately after Jeanie!

Also lately I have noticed that Jeannie opens with a
side view of Major Nelson's house, looking at the
left side of the house and it is the house used for
"Dennis the Menace" that Dennis and his family lived
in.

Scripwriters Faux Pas

Go has started showing the "Bewitched" series from
the beginning and last night's epiosode (about third
or fourth)dealt with the idea that Sam came up with
suggestions for one of Darren's campaigns, he
instantly thought because they sounded good to him,
they were the result of magic. He implies that Sam
is lying when she denies that she used magic, as a
result she packs her bags and goes home to mother.

Towards the end of the series, when Adam is about
three years old they have the exact same story line
except this time she makes him sleep on the couch.
I can't believe that the writers were that hard up
that they had to recycle stories! but it is worse
to think that they could not remember even writing
the story in the first place.

Interesting to note that the first two episodes
had a narrator whom I believe was Jose Ferrier.

The Ritz

Meg decided that the top pub was not "good enough'
to take Uncle Bill out for his birthday. So she
said "Let's go to The Ritz, in Traralgon," which
really is only a cafe with pretensions of grandeur.

I ordered a half nip of vodka and was charged $6.50,
which is the price anywhere else for a full nip! So
either they got it wrong or they overcharge! Either
way it is a mistake.

I must admit the duck was cooked well and tasted
wonderful and was not too dear at $26.95, as I know
The Italian Club would charge at least another $10!
It cost about the same as The Traralgon R.S.L.
would charge.

There was a twenty first birthday party at the next
table and I suggested we sing "Happy Birthday" to
Uncle Bill but he didn't want that, though he claims
it has been the best Birthday ever as it lasted two
weeks! but then you don't turn 70 every day of the
week.

Lisa finally turned up in time for dessert, as she
had gone to Melbourne to play tennis for the Saturday
and it ran late. So she was not in any of the photos,
which of course nobody thought about till now!

Lots of photos with me, Cliff, the kids, and Uncle Bill.

A good night was had by all. Especially as Meg and
Donald went on to a club till the early hours of the
morning which in a way annoyed me as Donald cried
poor and asked me to pay his $206 rates for him this
week as he did not have the money yet was able to
spend $180 on alcohol!!!!

Uncle Bill Arrives.

Uncle Bill arrrived last Friday, 19th November, at
lunch time. Hewent and picked up Meg from work and
we all had lunch together at Claudia's.

After Meg went back to work, he and i dropped in to
say a quick Hi to cliff and then it wa off to see
Sarah.

Angela had come to visit Sarah after the lunch hour
she had worked at The Australian Italian Club.

So we all had a coffee and chatted so that Uncle Bill
could catch up on what was happening with them.

Only two days previous Sarah had asked Paul to leave.

She does not know how permanant that will be. A bit
hard seeing that she is living in his mother's house
for very little rent. He was telling all their friend
that he no longer cared for her because she put on
too much weight after the baby was born. Which only
goes to show how immature and shallow he is. As I
said to Sarah, yes looks attract us to a person but
then after dating them we come to like/love them for
who they are on the inside and that does not change
just because of a few kilos.

From there he went to check into the motel in Traralgon
and I went home to do some work, no sleep for the wicked.

"Second Time Lucky" by Sophie King.

Jane Bidder is this author's real name. So no
relation to Stephen King, in fact this author
is British but the book does not suffer because
of this.

This is a light hearted entertaining read, with a
few laughs at no extra cost.

A woman's real version of "My Best Friend's
Wedding."

I read this in one sitting over the weekend.

Meg Is Home Sick

Meg couldn't sleep Wednesday night as she was
coughing so much. so she went to the doctor
and he took a swab and the results will be
back Monday, but he thinks she has Whooping
Cough. She went to work and the big boss sent
her home as there is a pregnant girl and he
didn't want to risk being sued!

Thankfully the washing machine had come back
Thursady morning so Meg caught up with her
washing on thursday afternoon.

She watched some of her programs that I had
recorded over the weeks for her on Friday but
by friday evening was 'sick' of being cooped
up!

Cassie had rung Meg on Friday morning and Meg
had told her she was 'ill', but Cassie didn't
mind and invited her over to spend a girls
night in with her, catching up on the gossip.

She rested Saturday and on Sunday went and cut
the grass on her block. I said that while she
was cutting grass she could do the front nature
strip of this house and the front lawn but of
cause it did not get done.

She went to see the Doctor after lunch on Monday
and the results showed she DID NOT have Whooping
Cought but just a throat infection, so she went
immediately back to work.

I think I would have waited till Tuesday as the
Doctor had given her the whole of Monday off.
I think she was just so bored, which is sad that
an active woman of 33 can't amuse herself for
a few days.

"How To Be Good" Nick Hornby

All I can say is that I could not find one thing I
enjoyed about this book. It was dull and deary.
How it can claim to be a number one best seller
is beyond me.

I guess it sold well because of his previous books.

My final commemt is that it was a pity that trees
were wasted in making this book.

"Stand By Me"

A short story written by Stephen King, turned
into a movie.

The narrator, who is a writer Gordie, is played
by Richard Dreyfus, which was immediately known
by his distinct voice.

He is telling us about the Labour Day weekend
when he was 12 years old and what he and his
three mates got up to.

I knew right away that Will Wheaton played the
young Gordie, he is of course best known for his
role in Star Trek.

Corey Felman played Teddy, I don't think I have even
heard of him before.

Gordie's best mate was Chris, a solid kid (not fat)
but made for scrapping. So I was astonished to find
that the boy playing this part was River Phoenix,
but even more amazed to find that the last of the
four, Vern, a fat stupid kid was played by Jerry
O'Connell, whom I think has got hotter as the years
have passed.

John Cusack played Denny, Gordie's older brother,
who was killed in a car accident.

Kefier Sutherland played the leader of the local bad
boys, who were the bane of Gordie and his friends.

A coming of age story that really made one weep.

"Wog Boy 2" "The King Of Myonos"

This was a terribly confusing film. Perhaps the
makers forgot what the story line was in the first
film.

Firstly at the end of "Wog Boy" Steve's friend Frank
gets married to the ditzy 'O'Brien' girl. Yet at the
beginning of this film he is single again and has
lost his mojoe with women. What happened to his
wife???

At the beginning of "Wog Boy" Steve's parents are
seen together on the boat travelling to Australia.
Yet in the second film, we are told that his father
came out first. He left behind not a wife but a
girlfriend and she ended up marrying her ex boyfriend's
brother. Then her ex sends for her and she goes to
Australia to be with him, but she is already pregnant
with Steve. So the man he thought was his father was
in fact his uncle and the man he thought was his uncle
was his father. That was why the uncle left Steve a
beach worth several million dollars in his will!

Althought there is ten years between films surely they
could have spent the time to watch the first film
again so they did not muck up the story line like
they have. Or have most people also forgotten the first
film and therefore the makers thought they were 'safe.'

that they had little choice as far as souvenirs
went.

Starange but True

Read Colin Dexter's "The Daughter of Cain" over
the last week. Apparently it is one of only
472 books. Why such a short run who knows.

But there were a number of mistakes. Ignoring
the spelling errors, which were numerous, e.g
'uf'instead of 'if', and once a 'of' instead
of a 'if.'

There were two large errors. The first there
was suppose to be a sketch of a knife. There
was room for the sketch but the space was BLANK!!
Secondly there was to be a sketch of handle of a
knife were there was writing on one side and once
again the space was empty.

Also in a space that was showing the opening of
a museum it said "12 a.m. to 4 p.m." then it said
as it was after noon there was a crowd of school
children waiting to enter. So it really should
have been 12 p.m.!

Even the story wasn't that great. Just a OK read.

Melbourne Cup 2010

Well the turn out wasn't that great. Sue and Allen
didn't come. Neither did Lena and her boyfriend.
Karen and Chris and the kids went to his mother's.
I had hoped that they might drop off MY grandchildren
as they are no relationship to his mum and their
father was at the Bar be Que. Cliff's friend from the
bank and her partner didn't come. Richard and his
mother as well as Beryl turned up just before the
cup and only stayed an hour.

So I did no sweeps.

In fact it was the worse race day all year for my
bets. Out of the ten races 4 of my horses were
scratched and out of the other six, I only had one
second place!

Don Jr did quite well he had 1st 2nd and 3rd in
the cup BUT NOT AS A TRIFECTA!

Cliff would not tell me how he did so he either
did extremely well or extremely bad.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Watched this two weeks ago, laughed often. Not an
indepth story, but a funny one.

A variation on a theme, many movies have been made
on the idea of going back in time and 'correcting'
one's mistakes, despite the fact that one change
could lead to awful consequences, as seen in
"The Butterfly Effect."

I liked the idea that despite the warnings about
changing the past, the biggest loser of the lot
went ahead and stayed behind when the others return
to the future AND HE CHANGED ALL THEIR FUTURES of
course for the better.

As I said no great story but very funny, and some
times that is all one wants from a film.

"How Old Is Too Old For Holloween?"

Today (Friday) on one of the American Morning shows
it asked this question. It seems that in one town
there has been trouble with teenagers who were or
seemed to have been intimidating to the older
citizens. So the town passed a law that no child
over the age of 12 can go 'Trick or Treating.'

Shoe Sale

I can't believe that I didn't write about the shoe
sale last week. I saw it advertised on T.V. and
told Meg that the Shoeroom was having a clearance
sale at Mid Valley. She rightly pointed out that
the Shoeroom is in Traralgon. I said "Nevertheless
the advert says that a sale is being held in Mid
Valley."

The next morning (Thursday) I get a message from
her that I was correct and there is a sale at Mid
Valley, would I like to meet her there to have a
look.

So we went and for the first time (I think) in my
life I did not buy a pair of shoes at a sale!!

I did however buy a $10 sponge cake with lovely
strawberry icing from Michael's. Apparently
it is a new thing that they have. There are 4
different varieties of sponge cake for $10.

Meg Flies to Crains

Meg flew to Crains on Saturday afternoon, all without
a broomstick. Ha Ha.

I know that I missed her when she went overseas last
year.

She is visiting Susan for a week so it will be an
interesting test of just how much I will miss her
when she moves into her new home mid next year.

In the last year have I got more fed up with her?

Bruce Willis Regrets Films.

This was some of the news in The Age yesterday.
Unfortunately he did not say which films he
regreated staring in.

This left the field wide open for everyone and
his dog to have a sling at him.

Among those films named were "Hudson Hawk" which
I enjoyed, and "Unbreakable" which had an unearthly
quality about it. I liked the premise, that if
there are people that are super fragile then there
has to be a balance, so there most be some people
who are never ill.

It is like my idea of good and evil. If there is
super good, e.g. God, there there has to be a
balance thus there must be a super villian e.g.
the Devil.

All comic books are based on that fact, every super
hero has to defeat a super villian, e.g. superman
against Lex Luther.

Some of the films given as the worse that Bruce has
made I can't comment on as I have never seen them.
One of his best I feel was "Sixth Sense."

Yes the Die Hard's are going over the top but that
is what happens when you follow on, the next film
has to have more bang for the buck!

Kirsten Visits

Picked up Kirsten from home. Kath said that I was
suppose to collect her from the school. However it
was raining and Nathen was home so I don't see why
he could not have picked the children up. He did
go and did it but with very bad grace!

Kath told me that he had no intention of taking
Kirsten to the doctor for her appointment as he
claimed she was 'bunging it on.' As if that
d...head would know ANYTHING anout medicine!!!!
Where did he get his degree! or is this just
rubbish that he is spouting from his mother the
'nurse'.

The doctor was happy with her chest and said to
keep using the spray.

Once again we did the dinning room. But after two
days it is still not finished.

The ceiling, walls and half the floor have to be
cleaned. Kirsten said "I know what we are doing
Nan, it's spring and we are cleaning so we are
spring cleaning."

I said that was very good.

When Kath picked her up on Sunday, she informed me
that Kirsten would not be seeing me nor Nanny
Burns till she 'behavoured herself.' Thay are going
to send her to live with Toss till she wants to be
part of their family again. When she agrees to
'do as she is told' then she can come back home.

I am not impressed with this.

Moe Cup

Well Meg had the day off to go to the Moe Cup. It was
a terrible day as fair as the weather went. The rain
continued from Wednesday. So the track was heavy.

She left at midday. Picked up by her friends. I took
a picture before she left.

She rushed in at 5 to 10 the next MORNING!!!!

Saying that she had 5 minutes to pack her bag, shower
and dress and to get to the netball ground by 10 a.m.
I told her it was impossible. She also said that I
had to drive her!

We got there at 10.30 a.m. the time the bus was to leave.
Just after she unpacked her things the bus arrived!!! So
she wasn't late.

The netballers were going away to celebrate their grand
finalwin. They were heading to Bendigo for the weekend.

There's Trouble in River City.

At least there is trouble in Yallourn North.

It seems that Nathan had a go at Kirsten on Tuesday so
she 'ran away from home'. Mum and Nathan spent three
hours driving around town only to come home and find
her asleep in bed. A happy ending I would have thought
but it seems that Nathan had another go at her about
running away so she took off on Wednesday night and
this time did not come home!!

More worring about a 12 year old that stays out over
night!! Kath said she rang the school and she was there
today. I said if they did not want a repeat not to go
ape shit at her. She is a very unhappy little girl,
hence the running away. Yelling at her for being so
unhappy is not going to improve the situation.

Kirsten Stays to help Nanny.

Kirsten came last weekend to help me clean up the house.

I picked her up Thursday and we spent the day sorting out
all my candles. What was current and what I wanted to keep
for myself and what I wanted to sell.

Friday she stayed at the shop to help Poppy Cliff but he
said that she didn't want to do ANYTHING. He asked her to
go to the bank with the money but she refused even though
she thought it was only a block away at first. When he said
it was two blocks away she really kicked up a stink he said.

Friday night we went to the club. Meg came as did Karen and
Chris with Elizabeth. We all had a drink and wished Cliff a
Happy Birthday even though his birthday was actually Saturday.

On Saturday we spent the day with Beryl and Cliff watching
the Grand Final. Kirsten and I went for Collinwood to win
and Beryl and Cliff were hoping for St. Kilda to win. Well
we now know who ended up happy at the end of the day!

On Sunday Kirsten came to my house and we started cleaning
up the dinning room and got about 3/4 of it done before her
parents arrived to take her home. So she is comming back in
2 weeks to help me finish it off!

Heart Foundation Collection.

About two months ago I reveived a phone call at
Cliff's for him from the Heart Foundation wanting
to know if he would do the collection for them
over one of the weekends in September. As he
works both Saturday and Sunday I said that I
would do the collection for him.

Well the first two week ends were washed out.
Who in their right mind wants to walk up and
down the street in drizzle?

Of course there are only three week ends in
September. The last one reserved for the AFL
Grand Final, which this year was played between
St. Kilda and Collingwood, which is Don Jr's team.

But it was a beautiful day so I went out at 10 a.m.
There were only 12 houses in the street and four
did not answer. So I was finished by 10.45 a.m. so
that was not all that bad. I collected $33.

Angela Turns 30!

Angela turned 30 on the 13th of this month. I dropped
around to see her on the weekend before with a card but
as usual she was not at home.

I believe she was going away for her birthday weekend
with friends. Meg was orginally going to go but
the program was changed as she claimed it was too
young for her so she didn't bother to go after all.

I left the card in Angela's door but as usual have not
heard a word from her.

It is giving me the shits that I have to be the one
to ring or call around. She only works part time and
the two girls are in school, so why can't she contact
me for a change???

Emila's First Birthday.

Sarah's daughter had her first birthday two weeks ago
Saturday.

It was by written invitation only. Though Sarah bumped
into her 'aunty' Kath (great aunt to Emila) at Mid Valley
and verbally asked her to come. Neither 'great uncle'
Don, 'great aunty' Meg nor great grandmother Gloria
were invited.

Considering Sarah now only lives about six blocks away
from me in Morwell, less than a kilometer, you would
think I might get a visit.

But considering she still owes me nearly $600 from when
she went to visit her dying grandfather (my ex husband)
two years ago and I asked her to pay me back at $30 a
fortnight and she has not paid one cent I guess I don't
hear from her beacuse she is feeling a bit guilty, though
I doubt that. If I had money she would be all over me.

Welxcome Elizabeth Janette Richardson-Roberts.

What a mouthful for a little girl who weights in at 7 and
a half pounds!!(a little over three kilos.)

Karen Roberts had her baby at 3.20 a.m. on Friday 10th
September in the back seat of Chris's car, in the
hospital carpark!

Mum and baby doing well and sent home at midday on Saturday
the 11th September, 2010.

"The Jane Austin Book Club"

I saw the book "The Case of the Imaginary Detective' in
the shop and it was written by Karen Joy Fowler the
author of "The Jane Austin Book Club." I had heard
that book was a good read so I took the detective book
home.

Well it was rubbish. I think she must have been on
drugs when she wrote it as most of it makes no sense.
Then are whole pages devoted to describing the sky
and beach. Whole chapters to the dogs and the two
dog walkers.( None of which has anything to do with
the plot!)

The plot line concerns a 29 year old girl,Rima, who
when her father (the last of her immediate family) dies
goes to 'visit' her godmother, Addison Early. It seems
for the first time in her life she wonders about the
relationship between her father and Addision so sets out
to find out what that was.

Very slim story line that takes 321 pages to cover.

What was very confusing was the constant change in Point
of View (POV) often occuring within the same sentence!

All in all there are three days of my life that I am never
going to get back. Yes I kept going to the end, so I can say
I gave it a fair go!

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I watched this at Cliff's last night on 7Two.

To recap the plot "Hyper intelligent pan dimensional
beings on a distant world ask their super computer'
Deep Thought 'What is the meaning of life and everything'
The computer tells them to come back in 7 and a half
million years and it will have the answer.

They do, with a cheering crowd that turns ugly when
they are told "The answer is 42." The computer
defends this answer by saying that it did not know what
the ultimate question is, but that it could design a
computer to give the answer in 10 million years.

The computer is the earth and the living beings on it
the 'computational matrix'. ( Aside: Is this where
the concept of the Matrix films came from???)Two of
the pan dimensional beings in the form of white mice
live on the earth to keep an eye on 'the experiment'.

Five minutes before Ms Fenchurch, who is sitting in
a cafe, in Rickmarsworth, comes up with the answer,
(This is actually not in the film, which is a hugh
oversight as it is the crux of the matter!) the
Volgons destroy the earth to make way for a Hyper
Bypass. The Bypass is made redundant 15 minutes later
when Zaphod Beeblebrox engages the improbablity drive.

Just as the earth is destroyed, Ford Prefect an alien
from a planet near Beteleuse, (Remember the movie with
Michael as a ghost like being in 'Betelgeuse'?), rescues
his friend the earthman Arthur Dent, by hitchhiking on
one of the Vogon Ships. They are found and expelled into
the void of space where the stolen space ship piloted by
Zaphod Beeblebrox, the President of the Galaxy, picks
them up.

Imagine Arthur's surprise to see Zaphod a man he met at
at party in a flat in London. He is even more surprised
to see Trica McMillan the girl he fancied at the party
and who went off with Zaphod, walk into the room."

After a few adventures the band end up on the planet,
where the creators of the computer Earth live. Arthur
finds that there was a 'spare' earth comp[uter in the
wings and it is already having the finishing touches
put on it to replace the destroyed earth."

Now comes the scene where Arthur is shown his new (old)
house. Inside he finds a scene straight out of the Mad
Hatter's tea party. Ford, Zaphod and Tricia, (who now
calls herself Trillian) are eating a feast. Arthur finds
the tea much to his liking. The mice appear and tell
Arthur that in order to complete their experiment they
need his brain. Obviously Arthur objects and the mice
say that if he can come up with a good question to the
answer 42 then he is off the hook as they really don't
want to wait another 10 million years for the question.
They reject his questions till he says "How many roads
must a man walk down?" they think this is pretty good.
(Remember this is a Bob Dylan protest song 'Blowing' in
the Wind" and if you recall the 'story opened with Arthur
lying in the road prtesting the destruction of his house)
but then they decide to take his brain any way. In
'kill or be killed' scene Arthur kills the mice. (Please
recall that we have seen their home world and it would
appear that they could be the last of their race.)

Then Arthur goes outside (skip the Vogon scene) and the
creator informs him that the life cycle is about to begin.
Arthur makes no changes to the erath and off it goes.
Then in what is a remarkable scene all the people of
earth are put back (truley a god like move), to approx.
15 minutes before the Vogons destoyed the earth thus
wiping out all memory of the event, and thus Ms
Fenchurch can still make her discovery!!."

Now it is obviously that the last scene with the mice
and this replacing the people by the earth creator are
at odds with each other.

It would seem that they did not need Arthur's brain to
continue the experiment. Yet it is also clear that
they have not been informed of the creators ability to
replace the people, and thus continue the experiment
otherwise why try to take Artur's brain. Yet they
were paying 'good money' for the job. So the question
becomes who was paying them more to withold that
information? Someone who wanted the result to be the
death of the last pan dimensional beings and their
quest for the ultimate question?

An Election Nightmare.

I went up to the Revival center in Morwell to vote.
As it was close to Donald's I decided to go to his
house and I thought we both could go down together
and vote. I also had the photos from Talhia's party
and a recycle bag with Collingwood on it (How I got
that I don't know) that I wanted to give him. But
when I got there the house was open, the fire was on
as was the T.V. but there was no one home. Donald's
car was in the drive way so I figured he and the kids
had not gone too far.

I walked down to the center thinking he might have
already gone to vote.

Just as I was getting all the paper work from the
various parties, I heard a voice call out "Nan."

There was Donald and the kids coming up the roadway
from Crigian Rd School.

Turns out as the sun had come out for a few minutes
earlier Don had taken the kids to play soccer, footy
and cricket on the school oval.

But now that it was spitting rain they had decided to
come home.

So we waited in line to vote. Thankfully we just
managed to squeeze into the foyer of the center.
There were people who were not so lucky and had to
wait in the rain.

Forty five minutes later we finally got to vote!

The problem was that there were only two issusing booths.
But there were 8 voting stations. I kept walking in and
looking how it was going, the most booths that were
occupied at any one time was 6!

It was taking longer to cross the people off and issue
the voting forms that it was to vote. After Donald and
I voted we noted,as we walked out, that there was only
one booth being used!

They really needed four issusing stations.

Boo Turns 8

As a family we all got together for dinner on Thursday
12th August for Boo's (Talhia) 8th birthday.

Of course Cliff was not there as he can't see the point
of 'a birthday party' for an 8 year old. No matter how
many times I tell him it is just a family dinner. The
only extra thing is a cake and presents for the child we
all have to eat tea so why not enjoy it together in
celebration.

I think Audrey didn't tell him this and it seem obvious
that Glenda did not practise it with the boys. Yet he
sees the 'boys' each year for their birthday to give them
a card and present and they are now 30 and 31!!!

We went to the Rossmore hotel at Yallourn Nth. It was
Parma and pot night for $14. I was the only one with a
camera, so I took a few shoots.

Kath told Nan Player that she is expecting another child
in early December. Boo asked why I was watching her
mother talk to Nanny Palayer and I said "because Mum is
telling Nanny that she is expecting a baby."

Boo said "What another baby?" I said "Yes" and then she
came out with the comment of the night:-

"Well obviously dad didn't wear a condom then."

That cracked up everyone!!

More Computer Woes.

Just on two years ago I had the CD compartment on my
tower replaced because it had given up the ghost.

Then a month ago I told Meg that the Norton anti virus
was about to expire as it kept telling me there are
only 28 days till this subscription expires. Then
there are only 21 days till this subscription expires
etc. till it was down to ONE day. Meg kept saying
that she would buy a new Norton, but she didn't do it
till a week had gone past and then I found that the
CD compartment wouldn't open!

I ony use it about twice a year so that means I opened
it FOUR times before it stopped working which makes
the $45 part rather expensive. So once again I went
for a second part but if this only last for four
openings I will really be complaining!!!

"Handle with Care"

This book had me reading eagerly till the last chapter.
I once had a writing teacher that sais that sometimes a
writer has such a great yarn that they find themselves
lost for an ending. Often that is why children write
"and she/he woke up, it was all a dream."

It seems that is what happened to this story. But instead
of "it was all a dream" she took the ending from "My Sisiter's
Keeper" and stuck it in here!

To add to the insult there was that bit about the cheque.
Obviously it was still pinned to the fridge six months after
the trail because of her guilt, but if she had have been
sensible she would have banked it, paid off all the mortages,
the credit cards, bought the new van and wheel chair and
surely in that six months there was anothere set of school
hoildays and she could have tried another trip to Disney
World! Afyter all isn't that why she fought the battle?

To just put it in the coffin "because it was your money" means
NOTHING. By not cashing it it stays in the insurer's bank! I
would have set up a college fund for the elder daughter and
set up a fund in my dead daughter's name with the remainder
of the money to help children with brittle bone disease.

What a lame finish to a great story, so disappointing.

White Goods Cont:

Maybe because it has become a sore point I have been
taking notice of kitchen settings in different shows
lately.

Firstly I noticed in "I Dream of Jeannie" that the
fridge in the kitchen was a pale green colour.

The next show was "Bewitched" and the fridge in that
kitchen was also a green colour, but it was a lime
green (that is a pale colour green with a hint of
yellow in it), of course that could just have been
the way the light hit it.

Both those shows were filmed in the mid 1970's so
there have been coloured white goods available in
the USA for over 35 years!

The only 'coloured' item I have seen in Australia
was a lovely chocolate stove I bought about 30
years ago, when my kitchen was brown. I replaced
it about 15 years later with the typical white stove.
Only because I could not get either a pale yellow
or green colour.

What would colour add to the price of the applicance?
Surely no more than $100???

Good on Ya Pascall's

Saw the Pascall's Adults ad for their lollies last night
and LOL for five minutes. Told Meg about it but she thought
it was not ALL that funny.

You be the judge!

Princess comes into bar and sees frog. Remarks that he does
not look like his profile (everyone is internet dating and
everybody LIES!) He responds that he is under a spell "at
the moment" She answers not too happily "I suppose it is
what is inside that counts!"

Just then a fly buzzes passed and the frog does what frogs
do and his stickly long tongue shoots out and catches the fly
and he eats it.

Before you can say "Robertson Curso" the princess says
"Ready to go to my place?"

END OF AD.

What is inside of the frog? His tongue! NUDGE! NUDGE!
WINK! WINK! say no more!!

How long will this ad last before it is banned.

They got rid of the "Sic him Rex" which was very similiar!

Why ban an ad about sex. Sex is a normal part of life. Why
not ban the ads that show violence and destruction, like
cutting up furniture with a chain saw because it is half
price. Or using a sledge hammer to destroy property because
it is a sale. That is not a normal part of life!!!

"White Goods"

It is like Ford said about the model T, "You can
have any colour you want as long as it is black."

I said to Cliff at the weekend that I am sick of
microwaves, fridges, freezers, washing machines and
driers that only come in white! Why can't we have
colour! He said "Because then they wouldn't be
white goods." Typically a male response and of
course they are the designers. So all you ladies
out there stand up for our rights WE WANT COLOUR!

Just then an American show came on and there in the
kitchen was a great YELLOW fridge! So if the
Americans can have colour why can't we???

Clean Out

With Kirsten's help I cleaned out my wardrobe and
threw out seven bags of clothes and a Bluey (which
I had never worn.) I think Thomas left it here.

But when it came to getting rid of the bags all
the recycle bins that had been in Manny's market
and next to Cliff's shop were gone.

Turns out that people were leaving dead aninamls
in the bin next to the shop and Cliff complained
to the council and it was removed.

Had to leave them in the bins at the back of Saint
Vincent De Paul in Traralgon.

Movie Night

Strange that we still call it movie or video night
when actually it is D.V.D. night. Soon to be BluRay
night.

Friday after we had tea at the R.S.L. we went to the
video shop ( and we still call it that despite the
fact that they no longer sell videos) and got "Alice
in Wonderland."

It was not at all like I expected. It takes place
when Alice was 19 and it is in actually fact her second
visit to Wonderland and her first visit was when she was
6 and not just a dream as she had always thought.

The other movie we got was "The Tooth Fairy". Thought
that approp: considering Meg had her bottom two wisdom
teeth out.

We watched Alice Friday night and took the Tooth Fairy
home on Saturdaymorning for Meg to watch with Kirsten,
but Meg's friend Jacky came and I had to leave before
they had finished watching it. So Meg made the supreme
effort and went to the video shop in Morwell and got a
copy from there for her and Kirsten to finish watching.

I watched it on my own on Sat afternoon. I had heard
them laughting like mad but I did not do the same though
I did think there were some funny parts. Like "You can't
handle the tooth." "I swear to tell the whole tooth and
nothing but the tooth."

Kirsten Comes for the Holidays

On Wednesday I went to pick up kirten from Yallourn
Nth. But I had broken my glasses during the night
and had to go and see about getting them fixed.
Turned out it was only two months off the 2 years.
So luckily for me there was a cancellation and I
could come back at 2.30 p.m. to ghet my eyes tested.

But even though I was 1/2 an hour late Kirsten was
still not dressed or packed to come and stay with me.

Happy 2nd Birthday Ryley!

Sunday was Ryley's 2nd birthday. Unfortunately Cliff
couldn't go as he and richard were going to an auction
to see about buying goods for the Rosedale shop.

"Good Guys" Discount

Meg showed Cliff and I a flyer from her netball team for
a fund raiser offerd by the Good Guys. Last Wednesday
night they had the Traralgon shop opened from 6 p.m till
9 p.m. to buy goods at a discount with some of the money
going to the club.

I had no money nor did I need anything.

Meg and Donald went and Meg bought a set HD box for the
T.V. in her bedroom.

Cliff said he didn't need anything but as Ross had been
talking about buying a new T.V. so he could get the new
channels when the man installs the new antennas on Cliff's
house, Cliff offered to take him down.

But Ross said that he was too tired and couln't be bothered.
Which of course annoyed Cliff as Ross then stayed up to past
11 p.m. playing on the computer.

To add insult to injury Ross went down on Sat and bought a
new T.V. from the Good Guys paying over $1,700 for it. I
wonder how much he would have saved getting it on the
Wednesday night! More money than sense especially as he put
it on his credit card!!!

T.V. Again

Strange that the new stations Go (part of the nine network)
and 7Two (part of the 7 network) now have better programs
that the main channels. I guess it is because it is Summer
time break in the American film indudtry so the main channels
will have crap for the next two months.

But these new channels are no better at keeping to the program
times that the main channels. Am I the onlyperson who is
bothered by the fact that the channels changetimes and programs
at a whim?

Am I making mountains out of molehills? Is it because I have
too much time on my hands?

Well I think it bothers me because I don't have a great deal
of time and I hate to have what little leisure time I have
wasted by all the faults in the programing timetables.

Saturday Dinner

Karen Roberts asked if Cliff and I could look after
Maddy on Saturday as she and Chris were going to a
dinner in Dandenong.

The boys were each farmed out to different people.

So she and I had a girlie night and Saturday. We
went down to Video Eazy and got two DVD's. Who
should we see pulling out from the car park but
Tracey, Karen's twin sister who had Sam for the
night.

She had just dropped off Maddy at Cliff's and like
us gone straight down to get a DVD.

We wanted the "Tooth Fairy' but there were no copies
left. Turned out that Tracey had taken the last one.

We got "Where the Wild Things Are" instead. I was
disappointed with it. The book was so much better.

We also watched "Alvin and the Chopmunks: The
Squeak?? The title itself is funny! It was a light
comedy just like the first one not too much thought
involved, but it does point out the fact that all
that glitters is not gold.

Beryl came around and watched the "Wild Things".
The best part about it was the lovely beach setting
Beryl thought it looked like '90 mile Beach' and as
it was made in Victoria that is more than likely.

Yusuf Cat Stevens

Cliff took me (and of course Ross) to see Cat
Stevens at the Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday
16th June. He had tried to get into the
Friday night concert but it had sold out within
an hour!

He was suppose to pick me up at 5 p.m. but
arrived at 5.40 p.m. and it was bloody cold
sitting on the front verandah for 40 minutes!

The drive thankfully was just on 2 hours but
he had to park at the MCG and walk the two
kilometers back to the arena, but he did drop
me off first, but the walk back after the concert
nearly killed me!

The songs and music were great but we were in
the nose bleed section. I could see a number
of figures on stage, and just make out which one
was singing, but that was it. Thankfully they put
up the video of him on the side of the stage
otherwise I would have had no idea what he looked
like!

Going in was a nightmare. They had people going
through ladies bags. A man with a magnetic wand
frisking all the men who did not seem to be carrying
anything. They took all cans and even bottled water.

Lucky I did not bring my water this time.

A small plastic cup of beer cost $7:50 and a small
cup of wine $7 and a large cup of lemonade $4.

I bought a T shirt for Cliff and myself and a program
total cost $120! The tickets were $140 each!

Cliff complained that it cost $50 for a three course
meal and a night at the R.S.L. for both of us and I
said Wednesday night cost us $200 each. But he said
that it was a once in a lifetime thing and I joked
well once in every 36 years as that was how long it
had been since Cat Stevens had last been in Australia!

Trouble

I thought it would be a good thing to have a new tenent
in the Yallourn North house.

It has cost $260 to have the grass cut and all the
rubbish taken away that the last tenents left over
the lawn. It cost $245 for the excess water when
they ran over the front tap as a parting shot. It
cost $269.50 to have said tap replaced.

Now it is costing me $1,760 to replace the water
service, which of course is not covered by insurance.

But as I have yet to put the claim in I will not have
the money to pay the bills for awhile and the fence
bloke will be putting the new fence in my share over
$1,100 in the next two weeks!

Thankfully the plummer for the water service will take
a $1,000 for the heater and the reminder in two payments
four weeks apart. Which will ease the burden on me as
I am only receiving $500 a fortnight!

"Who Says I Can't"

I have just finished reading this memoir by Catherine
DeVrye an ex Canadian now an citizen of Australia.

To say that I was angry is an understatement.

She wrote that she was 'abandoned' as a baby when in
reality her birth mother like thousands of other
single mothers of the time gave her up for adoption.
Perhaps this was just hype to sell the book but it
is repeated in the main text.

I too was adopted, a year before her (1949), but
unlike her mother, my mother was forced to give me up
by a goverment authority. As she was a paraplegic in
a state run hospital.

DeVrye lamented the fact that her father died when she
was 21 and the following year she lost her mother.

At least she had a mother! Even if like many mother
daughters of all eras they fought! My adopted mother
died when I was 12!

She had no brother or sisters, well BOO HOO neither did
I! As my mother gave birth to still born boy twins in
1956. There were no more children after this. Although
I had never seen my brothers I often think of what they
would have been like as the years passed. I even believed
that given a choice my father would have preferred me to
have died and the boys to have lived!

Imagine growing up thinking that. Believing that your
father didn't love you that much. Especially after my
mother died and within 8 months marrying a woman that
made Hansel and Gretal's stepmother and Sleeping Beauty's
stepmother look like saints.

The only mother I had ever know. The woman who loved
and adored me was gone replaced by someone who in that
first year informed me that "You were never part of the
bargain."

DeVrye wrote that the grandfather she adored died when
she was a teenager. The only grandfather I had was in
Ireland and althoguh he wrote wonderful letters to me,
we never met, as he died before I ever got to Ireland.
This was because when I was 16 my dad wanted us all to
go to Ireland to meet his family but my stepmother said
that if he took me then she would not go and when he
came home he would find her gone. So they went alone.
My grandfather died seven years later. Three years after
I qualified as a primary school teacher earning the amount
of $49 a week.

My maternal grandmother died in November 1963 less than
18 months after her daughter. She was the only grandmother
I had as my dad's mother had died many years before I was
even born.

My dad was virtual dead to me the moment he remarried as
my step mother never gave us one moment alone together.

After I moved to Victoria he would write me letters. This
he did when his wife attended her weekly two hour craft
sessions. She knew he wrote but was annoyed if he did
it when she was there as that was her time! He often
included money in his letters and he would say each time
not to mention the money in my return letter but to say a
specific phase and then he would know that I had received
it safely. Each time the phase was different it was like
being spy!

So don't tell me Catherine DeVrye's life was that unusual!

Why she is famous is not because of all the things she has
done
Golfing at ST. Andrews
Playing gridiron at the home ground of the Dallas Cowboys
Walking the Great wall of China (which by the way is one
of the thing I would like to do!)
Walking in Colorado's Grand Cayon
Elephant rides in the jungles of Thailand
Scaling Aztec ruins in Mexico
Riding over the Andes on a push bike
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, many rich people do things like
this! no it is because she has done them working for Sports and
Recreation Australia and working for IBM. She broke the so
called glass ceiling and that is why she is famous!

She admits that she often was in the right place at the
right time and it is true. She was blessed with luck.
Yet she bemoans that there is no man in her life and that
she has no children.

She married the wrong man and though they were married
for 8 years there was never any children as she realised
early on that as a couple they had serious problems and
she felt that children might not help.

She never remarried but that was because she was making a
choice, her career came first and that she has made a
success of.

She says that others have told her she is a role model and
I was appalled at that. She is so old hat! A role model in
the 70's perhaps but not for now. She sends the message
that to be a successful carrer woman you have to coose.
Either a husband and family or a career.

Woman should be learning that they, like an successful
business man, should be allowed to have it all.

Mediation

Beacuse I was so slack in contacting Hailey re the
fence between our yards she took the problem to
mediation.

I had to waste an hour stating things and talking
about the quote from the new fenencer saying that
because of the attitude of Saulty I did not want
to deal with him.

That will teach me if I had picked up the phone
and taken five minutes to speak to her at the
time when she sent the registered letter than
I would have saved an hour on today!

Lap Banding

Well thre last time I saw Mr. Arthur was in 2006
and he said that I had to go away and make an effort
to lose weight naturally. So I tried eating healthy
for two years and gained 8 kgs. So I joined Curves
andadjusted my eating patterns.

In the two years I was with Curves I lost centimeters
from various areas of my body, but I actually gained
weight of 10 kgs from 98 to 108. They kept saying
that was because I was building muscle and it weighs
more than fat, but I am still heavy and my back and
legs are giving out. They were becoming so painful
that I had to leave Curves and in the six months
since I left Curves I think I have gained another
5 kgs!!

But the really bad news is that before the lap
banding operation was at Latrobe Valley Hospital
and cost $5000 but now it has to be done through
Maryvale Private Hospital and the cost is closer
to $10,000. He said that the only way they will
allow me to have it is if I am with a private Health
fund. That will cost about $10-15 a week for at least
9 months and who knows how much longer because of the
waiting list! Even then they only pay about 70% of
the cost so I would still be up for about $3000.

I feel that I am reaching for a golden ring and it
is getting futher and further beyond my reach!

Meg is 33

Meg said that her boss reminded her that Jesus Christ only
lived to be 33 years old!

As a family we all went to the top pub in Morwell for tea.

For weeks I had been telling Cliff that it was at 6.30 p.m.
as Meg does not usually get home till nearly 6 p.m. and she
would want to have a shower and change before eating.

He wanted it to be 6 p.m. so we could still go to cards at
7 p.m. and I said that we would not have enough time to
order tea and eat it so that would not be happening.

I was right we ordered tea at 7.10 p.m. and it did not
arrive till 8 p.m. I had to go back home and get Meg's
and mine shop a docket. Hence the lateness of our ordering
but there was also a large party of elderly people about 20
in front of us and we had to wait 20 minutes before we
could order.

Ross went away for the week end and rang Sunday night to
say that he would be coming back on Monday night so I rang
him and said that as Cliff was going to tea in Morwell at
6.30 p.m. then he would have to be back in Traralgon by
6 p.m. in order for Ciff to pick him up so that Cliff would
not be late. I then told Cliff the same thing and said
that Ross said that the train gets in at 5.40 p.m. so
there should be no problem.

Yet when Meg, Kath and family and I all came in at 6.30 p.m.
there was Cliff sitting there saying "I've been here since
6 p.m. what happened to all of you?" He then went on to claim
that I had told him 6 p.m.!!!!Which of course just goes to
prove that he really doesn't listen to me. Or that he just
got it stuck in his mind that as that was the time he wanted
us to have dinner that it was therefore correct!

Stange but True

Today Beryl came around to talk about "Julie and Julia"
which we saw a couple of months ago as she needs to
write a report on it and can't remember it. I thought
we should have watched it again but gave her a run down
of the plot only to have her say "I'll have to get the
DVD and watch it again!"

When she arrived "Murder She Wrote" was coming on and I
told her I wanted to watch it. The plot was Jessica
Fletcher's English cousin Emma McGill(who was her twin
in looks as the part was also played by Angela Lansbury)
had a number of attempts made on her life and pretended
she died to 'flush' out the murderer.

Emma McGill was an old time musical singer. I said that
I had seen "The Portrait of Doran Gray" about a month ago
and Angela Lansbury had played the part of a young music
hall singer (she was about 20 in the movie) and the song
she sang that won the heart of Gray was "Little Yellow
Bird".

Well bugger me the next minute Emma McGill (Angela
Lansbury) comes on stage and sings "Little Yellow Bird".
Beryl said that it might be the only song she could sing
and I said no she sang others in Doran Gray.

We both though it a bit of coicidence that I should have
told her about the movie "Doran Gray" and then have her
sing the same song in this show! It was almost as good
as when she 20!

"The Memory Keeper's Daughter"

Just read this book by Kim Edwards, which she wrote in 2005.

The premise of the story is a doctor is forced because of an
unexpected snow storm to deliver his wife of their first baby
with only the help of his nurse. All goes well and a healthy
boy is born but then to his surprise there is another baby,
a girl born with Down Syndrome. It is set in America 1964.

All his life he has been haunted by the fact that his young
sister June was diagnosed at about two with an incurable
heart condition. From that time his mother poured all her
attention into the sick girl leaving him to fend for him
self. June died at twelve and his mother never recovered.
He elects to send his daughter to a home with his nurse and
not tell his wife the truth.

He believes he will be saving his family the coming grief.
But what does he do then? He tells his wife that there was
another baby. She had been under the gas and did not know.
But the second child was born dead!

For the next 25 years his wife grieves for this missing child!

I would not have mentioned a thing. What you don't know
does hurt you!

After that they both make some awful choices in their
marriage which eventually destroys it.

I couldn't put the book down but I wondered what the story
would have been if he had done the smarter thing and told
her nothing.

Paying the Rates

It always amazes me that no-one complaims about paying
water rates on vacant blocks of land just beacuse the
water pipes pass by your property. Next thing you know
the electric and gas people will say well our supplies
pass by your place so you should pay for those as well!

The last installment for our 2010 rates are due on Monday
31st May. As this is the day I usually get home about
2 p.m. and then have my nanny nap I really won't have time
to pay them on Monday so I went in today.

I have paid them on the date due and the lines are LONG.
Sometimes you have to wait as long as half and hour and
that is with the three girls working the registers. So I
do try to go in at least the day before.

I still thought there may have been a few sensible people
going in early and the wait may be about fifteen minutes
but no I was the only person being served so no wait at all.

I had asked Meg last night if she wanted me to pay the
rates for her as she was paying me her share of the water
bill this week ( over $100 and I did not want her to be
short of money for the week)and she said no she would
Bpay them on Monday. In fact she shouted at me that
she could "jolly well pay her own bill."

So imagine my surprise when I get a message on my mobile
asking me to pay the rates for her. Turns out that she had
to put money in the netball for a few of the other girls
going away to play this week end and she did not therefore
have enough to cover her rates!

When I told Cliff he said "So I guess you told her, No as
'she can jolly well pay her own bills.'" I said no I paid
them for her.

Isn't she lucky to have such an understanding Mum?

I also went to pay Donald's rates as he has not be in
steady work for about six months now but it turned out that
he had already paid them. He must have done it with the
last of his pay out money.

Isn't he a good Boy?

Friday 21st May Visitors Day

It was Visitor's day at Stockdale RD school. This
year it was from 12.30 pm. till 3.30 pm. From 12.30
till 1.30 it was open class rooms, I watched Maddy
for half an hour as her class had a visit from a local
policeman. Then I went to Connor's class for 15 minutes
and watched the teacher tell the kids it was WRONG to
say 1.45 p.m. that the CORRECT way was to say a quarter
to 2. That if the clock was at 3.40 it was not 3.40 but
twenty to four!

I disagreed with her! I said it was not wrong that
either way was correct and that some people found the
1.45 option easier than the quarter to option!

Then there was snack time on the oval and Lacy was
hanging with the twins Corey and Jackson. I took a
photo of them and then all the kids together.

Corey was very cosy and wanted me to see his paintings.
He said that mum couldn't come as Nathan had only come
home fom the hospital yesterday from breaking his arm.
I think it was just an excuse not to bother. Why would
a broken arm stop a mum from bring him to school to
visit his two brothers on visitors day?

So all the kids dragged me around the display room
showing oof their paintings.

Karen came and stayed during the snack break.

After the break there was another hour of open
class and I went into Lacey's room and she
introduced me as her nan Gloria. I was there 45
minutes as she wanted me to help her with her
English sheet.

I rushed over to Jackson's room and he was sitting
on the floor in an exercise and the teacher was not
allowing the visitors to take the kids aside so I
just went up to him to let him know that I had come
in and said that I had to go.

Then into Corey's room where the teacher said that
he had been waiting for me. I watched him play a
computer game where he had to create a monster
and take it through a series of obstacles to cross
a finishing line before dying three times. He
succeeded but took 4.45 minutes and the computer
said he was 'sluggish' I said that was slow and
he would have to keep playing and doing it quicker
even if he lost a life along the way. Said goodbye
and rushed into Sam's room.

Sam had been good all day and therefore was allowed
to draw the winners of the raffle for the day. Two
names were drawn out and they could choose a prize
from a box.

Sam also got to chose a prize and he picked some
hair pins for Maddy. The teacher said "What a good
brother" and he really swelled out with pride!

I offered him a lift home but he said no he wanted
to play for awhile. Karen later told me that she
had to drive up and get him!!

Rang Angela and she said that Lacey was all about
Nan Gloria being there. She said that Sarah had
said that she would come with Amelia but it never
happened. She had meant to come up but had lain
down on the couch with a headache and fallen asleep.

So it was lucky taht I turned up to make so many
little people happy!

Weather

I know that it is not offically winter but I have
had the winter blues now for a month! and yet it
is not even that cold yet. Though a lot of people
including my daughter Meg say that in the last week
the weather has been freezing! I know that in the
last week I have had to heat the bed,at night, but
only on the lowest setting. I am not up to the stage
of heating the room itself.

In fact it has been very wet over the last month and
I think that being restricted to the house beacause
of the rain has more to do with my being depressed
than the cold!

Yesterday was a lovely fine sunny day. So I went out
late in the afternoon to cut the lawn which has not
been done for about six weeks so it is getting like
a jungle out there, but hopefully not enough to kill
me! Ha! Ha! ("Monk" is a show that I have always liked!)
But where the sun doesn't reach anymore the grass was
still very wet and it was a real chore cutting it as
it would not slide to the back of the catcher but just
kept sticking to the lip!

As it was, I only did half as the green recycling bin
filled up too fast! I did say it was like a jungle.
So hopefully I will be able to finish it in the next
fortnight.

Film Credits

I have been watching a lot of Turner classic movies
lately. The credits at the end of these 'old' movies
are very short. The main actors, peolpe who provided
the make up and dresses and any specialised help,
e.g animal trainers, any stand-ins required then the
directors,and producers.

Today's film credits go on and on, there are sometimes
up to five minutes worth of credits, especially when
there are special effects in the movie.

I am sure that most people walk out of the room as
soon as the credits start. I know I do unless I am
looking for the name of a actor in a a role.

A couple of weeks ago I was changing channels to
watch a movie and the station was still running the
credits from the previous movie, so I was a captive
audience so to speak.

So I was actually watching the unending credits, there
was best boy grip ...... .....and then
worse boy grip Adolf Hitler.

Well I just cracked up! I have no idea which movie
this was, and I have never heard of any one saying
that they have seen this before, (as stated how many
people really watch the credits!) so I just had to
officially record this somewhere.

School Hours

Coming home from the shop to day at 3 p.m along
Commerical Rd between the state school and the
catholic school. The signs says that between
2.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. the speed limit is 40 kms.

A white Madza6 XDF159, was behind me as we went
around the state school roundabout but by the
time we got to the catholic school he had overtaken
me as I was doing the 40 kms speed limit he must
have been doing 60 at some point.

One of these days the police will be there and book
all the speeding motorists as every time I drive
along there I am the only one doing the 40 kms.
I'm sure they forget the catholic school is there!

Fences

For years I have trying to get a fence between
myself and the neighbours at NO:29, finally the
new owner has done something about it.

But the fence guy says that he has to charge me
an extra $500 to remove the top 6 inches of soil
on my side of the fence as it is highter than
her side!

I have never heard such rubbish in my life.

This is the second fence I will have put in on
that side. Back in 1978, the ground was built up
and there seemed to be no problem with it.
The fence really needed replacing about 2000,
so it did well for 22 years! Built up soil or not!

I believe this is just another way of getting
money out of me.

I told the bloke I would not have the soil removed.
He said that he himself would personaly come out
and look at it and let me know. I told him I was on
New Start Allowance and thus could only pay him the
$1,100 for my share of the fence in $100 fortnightly
payments. I have not heard a word since from him!

But the neighbour sent me a registered letter with
the details, which still includes the removal of
"vegetation' for $500 to me. This is what I
inquired about with the fence guy, as there are no
bushes or trees interfering with the fence line, and
he said it was the built up soil!

So now this is just another problem I have to deal with!

Here We Go Again!

Now Tony Abbott is making an ass out of himself by
suggesting that no one under the age of the 30
receive the New Start Allowance. Instead they
should be sent to the mines in W.A. (What about girls?)

Next they will be bring back in National Service
for the unemployed! (Which to me has more merit that
his suggestion.) After all the government pays the
National Service men while private industry pays
the miners.

Did he really think this through or did he just
spurt off?

What man of that age wants to leave a girlfriend,
friends and family to go off to a lonely mining area.
At this time the mines are paying good wages, but
if this idea comes to fruitation then you can bet
the wages will drop!

It is bad enough that many young men of this age are
still living at home even when they have a job, but
it would mean that if they have no job then the PARENTS
will have to work to support them! Many parents in this
age group (50 to 60) are planning their retirement, in
5 to 20 years, not contemplating staying in the work
force to support adult children.

What happens if a young man is married? My son in law
is 27 and my daughter is 29 and neither were working
till two months ago (When he got a job). They have 4
children, who is expected to support them? When even
I don't have a job? His parents both work, but would
not even give them $500, when their car broke down and
needed urgent repairs. (His mother drives around in a
2 year old BMW that she bought new. My car is 18 years
old this year I bought it new in Oct, 1992!)

Perhaps if he had said 21, he would have more support,
but maybe what he wanted was debate and not support,
perhaps he did not want this scheme at all but wanted
it shoot down?

If young people don't get the New Start Allowance before
21 then it might encourage them to stay at school, TAFE
or university.

But stop burdening the Baby Boomers! Bad enough that the
pension age keeps going up, but now this! We are at an
age when we have to support our parents in their 80's and
now we are asked to suppoprt our adult children!
When will it stop??

Back to the Future and Beyond 2

Finally watched the last episode of "Back to the
Future."

Of course the major mistake here has always been
the fact that it was impossible for Doc Brown to
make a working flux capacity in the year 1885.

In 1955 there was no plutonium and thus there
would be none in 1885. So even if he had the
materials to make the flux capacity, he does not
have the means to make IT WORK! I mean it is not
as if he knows ahead of time when a lightening bolt
will strike (as he did in episode 2)Doc Brown had
Mr. Fusion installed in 2015, but once again the
materials to make this unit were unavailable in
1885.

A minor note, Marty and the Doc are standing on
the edge of the ravine and Marty says they can't
wait around 18 months for the bridge to be
finished. He says this on Friday 4th Sept 1885.
According to the notice board at the ravine the
bridge is due for completion in the Summer of 1886.
Even giving Summer it's full 3 months, that means
that the bridge would be completed by the end of
August 1886, less than a year away!

Beryl was often texting during the films and arrived
up to 15 minutes late for the start but said that
'overall they weren't bad'.

My o My

I decided that for an little extra money that I
would join some of these on line panals, that send
you surveys to answer.

One of the biggest ones is Rewards Central. I have
been a member now for about 15 months and I would
say that I spend about one hour a week reading emails
and looking at the web site and answering questions
there. That equals about 65 hours work. To-day I
checked the redeeming program and found that 1,100
points equals $10 (approx) as 3,300 points gets you
a $30 cheque. I have 2669 points so have earned about
$20.43 for that 65 hours work. So it works out that
I am being paid at the rate of a little over 31 cents
an hour. I think that is pathetic.

I thought it was about $2-3 dollars an hour!!! No
wonder they just increased the rate to read an email
from five points to ten points. At the rate they are
paying it should be at least it should be about 100
points to read an email!

Important News

A week later and the main topic on T.V. is still
about Christine Nixon going to dinner on Black
Saturday!!

Apparently there are no murders, rapes or other
crimes that need reporting.

No natural disasters e.g. storm damage, volcanoes
blowing up, earthquakes and people being killed
that rank higher than a woman going to dinner!

Now the media even have victims and other people
from the fire services saying that she 'should
have been at her post'. Does this mean that when
there is a fire, she has to be in a certian building?

Can't she put into place the plans that have been
worked out for different fires and situations by
phone? Does her presence in a certain spot mean that
much? Does she have to beat her breast? wail and
cry in agony? tear her clothes in sympathy?

For god's sake GET OVER IT!!!

There is an old saying "there's no use crying over
spilled milk" I think it is about time the media
took note of this!

Back To The Future (and Beyond)

I couldn't believe that beryl had never seen the
"Back to the Future films."

Two weeks ago we watched the first one and then last
saturday we watched the second. It must be about
the fifth or sixth time I have seen it. But I was
looking at it more critically and was surprised by
the number of mistakes that were in it.

Firstly Doc Brown puts Jennifer to sleep using a
'Alpha Rhythm Generator' the waves put her to
sleep without any side effects. Marty asks how long
she should be out and the Doc says about an hour.
But later when Marty (Snr) says his son turned up
at the cafe, the Doc says " I was afraid of that, by
using the sleeping potion on Jennifer there was not
enough to knock your son out for an hour."

The Ford that Biff was driving was said in the movie
to be a 1946 model, but the registration read
"California 1951".

The 1985 edition of the paper that Marty is holding
changes when he burns the "Grey's Sports Almanac"
from "Nixon to seek fifth term" to "Reagan seeks
second term"

Christine Nixon

I can't believe that the papers have nothing better to
write about than the fact that Christine Nixon went to
dinner on Black Saturday. I'm sure a lot of people
went to dinner.

After all she is contactable by mobile phone and it is
not as if she is on the front line, like a firefighter.
I'm sure these plans were made in advance and after all
the poor woman had to eat. I know that I woke up at 7
p.m. went outside took lots of photos and then came
inside and ATE tea.

Surely it is the people who lit the fires we should be
trying to 'hang' and not the staff put in place to help
firefighters the fires!!

A Mix Up

Afer my perm I went to the shop and had lunch with
Audrey. Meg couldn't met us. We talked about the
time she would to get to the airport and worked out
she had to leave no later than 11 a.m.

So on Wednesday morning I turned up at the shop at
10.10 a.m. to have a goodbye cup of coffee with her,
only to find that she had left at 9 a.m. with Richard
and Anita as they wanted to have lunch with her before
she left.

No-one had rung me to tell me that there had been a
change of plans and I was not the only one, as Keith
turned up at 10.30 a.m. to say goodbye as well.

College Cuts

As part of the Easter prize that I won from Yallourn
North Primary School was a voucher for a FREE perm,
but I had to pay for the hair cut.

It was from College Cuts which opened last October
in George St Morwell.

I had to use it by the 9th of April, so I booked in
to have it done on Tuesday morning for Donald's
birthday dinner on Tuesday night.

Easter Egg Hunt

As Cliff and Audrey were at the Sunday market, Kath
decided that she would have the Easter egg Hunt for
all the kids at her house at about 2 p.m. when they
could get there.

Kirsten and I arrived at about 1.30 p.m. Aunty Meg
wasn't coming as she was at lakes with the new boy
friend Brad and his kids.

Donald arrived about ten minutes after us and Cliff
and Audrey were there about 1.55 p.m.

The hunt was in the front yard.

From the momemnt Kirten came home both Nathan and
Kath were yelling at her, so by the time of the
hunt she didn't want to do it. Talhia was also
having her temper tantrums, (that she always has
to spoil the fun for everyone else.) (She did it
on Jasmine's birthday, Xmas and now the Easter
Egg Hunt.) And Cliff and Audrey think she is so
wonderful!!!

Any way, we decided that all the kids would look
for eggs and when they found them they were to
give them to Donald who put them into a bag and
when the hunt was over we all went inside and
the eggs were divided out equally to the kids,
so that there would be no complaints.

I took photos and in the end everyone seemed
happy. Cliff had things to do and he and Audrey
left about 2.45 p.m. and I was only ten minutes
behind them as Cliff wanted to drop some things
off for my freezer.

Thursday 1st April, 2010.

As Friday was Good Friday, the Traralgon R.S.L. had
their member's draw and their raffle night on Thursday
instead.

I had booked for for eight, but Anita and Richard did
not come and after the quarrel that Keith and Audrey
had, he did not come either. So there was just Cliff,
Kirsten, Ross, Audrey and myself.

I was up at the counter with Kirsten ordering tea, when
I heard the raffle bloke call out Ross's name. I thought
he might have left his wallet when buying raffle tickets,
so I called out he's at the table at the back.

So the guy calls out "Ross Thornton is at a back table
and has won the $900 member's draw."

So when I got back to the table I said "Well I guess
you'll be paying for tea tonight." His reply "No way."
The tea came to $56!! He didn't even shout us a drink!

Well as far as I'm concerned that does it for me. Why
should I put myself out for such an ungrateful little
bugger.

Happy Birthday Donald.

Well today was Donald's 36th birthday. Cliff could
not come because it was the last night that Audrey
was here, and the family wanted to have a meal together.

I had invited them to come to the top pub, but she
wanted a quiet night at home.

Kath said she could not go as she and Nathan could not
afford it. But how hard it is to save $30 and a shop
a docket over the year?

Brad was suppose to come but at the last moment he
was 'sick'.

Then of course Meg continued to carry on like a two
year old having a temper tantrum because I had added
Kath's name to the in memory announcement.

She said that the reason she had not put Kath's name
in was because last year Kath had ONLY put in a notice
from her Nathan and the children.

I said that was as it should be but this year it was JUST
his children so her name should have been on the notice.

In the end I paid her the total amount of the ad, $31:50
as she was making the night miserable for Donald as well
as myself. I told both of them that I did not want them
doing such rubbish for me when I am gone. I said "If you
can't show me by your actions that you love me, when I'm
alive, then it's a bit late after I'm gone to be putting
notices in the paper. All that does is make you feel
less guilty and you're hoping people will see it and think
what great kids you are. It's a load of bullshit."

The meal was quite good, but Donald was quite low and his
spirits did not seem to lift. It had nothing to do with
his getting older, but everything to do with not having
a girlfriend nor the security of a full time job, plus
the connection with his father's death and that is always
going to be there tainting his birthday.

Audrey Arrives

At first Cliff was like a headless chook rounding around
trying to find someone to pick up Audrey from Melbourne
airport. It seems my idea of his going and my doing the
shop was one of the sillier ideas I've had. He answered
when I suggested it "But it's going to be busy, Easter
week is my busiest week after Christmas."

Then as Ross still has not got his licence, he said
Keith could go but Audrey said "That there was no way
she would be in a car driven by Keith."

Richard and his mum go to Melbourne on Wednesdays, so Cliff
asked them to pick her up. But she wanted Cliff to, so
in the long run he was the one to drive down and get her!

Another Male Driver in a Hurry to get Nowhere.

Driving from Mid Valley to the top motel, at 11:45 A.M.
when Iwas passed by a guy in a red sedan, a Ford Mondeo
plate number ASHK 88. I was sitting on the speed limit
of 80km and he passed me and then three other drivers,
weaving in and out of the traffic.

What did it gain him? nothing. I sat on the speed
limit the whole way, to the shop in George St,
parking out front and he was in the car in front of me
and parked in the car park behind the Express
Office!

Where are the police when there are idiots like
this around?

Had lunch with Meg at midday at Morwell subway and there
were two policewomen and one police man in there!

Quiz Master

In the Herald Sun on Friday 26th, 2010 a question was
asked in the 1 point catergory.
"What did the dollar replace as Australia's unit
of currency?"

I answered the ten shilling note.

The answer given was pound.

I said this was wrong, so asked Cliff.

He said "Pounds, shillings and pence."

I asked Beryl and she said "Pounds, shillings and
pence."

We looked at the question again and we all agree
that it is wrong.

Australia's currency prior to Feb 14th 1966, was
the same as Britian, the sterling system.

Thus the question should have been:-
"What did the decimal system replace as
Australia's unit of currency?"
The answer: The sterling.

We all agreed that the dollar is the basic note
in the decimal system and the pound was the basic
note in the sterling system, but it did not say
the basic note. I have since thought about about
it and perhaps that is silently implied?? which
I believe still makes the question wrong.

If it was after the basic note then that is what
it should have asked for. e.g.
"What did the dollar replace as Australia's basic
unit of currency?"
Answer: The pound.

Ilea's 60th Birthday

On Sunday Cliff and the 'boys' went down to Melbourne
for Ilea's 60th. Cliff said there were about 80
members of both her side of the family and the Listers,
her ex husbands' side.

Fiona had come over from New Zealand and one of the
'boys' had come down from Queensland.

I on the other hand did not go. Cliff said that they
were all asking after me and were disappointed that I
had not come. At first they were concerned that we
might have broken up. I guess that was their reasoning
after the nasty e mail I received from Keith, concerning
the Australia Day barbeque.

Gobbledegook

Well there is another ad on T.V. that can't pronounce the
words correctly.

Firstly there was the local carpet ad which said "We're
the place to be." But the writing on the screen said
"Were the place to be."

Now there is an insurance ad that has "you.i" I believe
it is you insurance, but the voice over is calling it
"you.e".

So how do our children know or learn how to spell or
which spellings are correct when all around them there
are such mistakes.

As a child compared to the other children around me I
was a terrible speller, but today compared to the young
children about 12-15 my spelling is that of a genius!!!

St Patricks Day 2010

Well there was no celebration from us this year. Guess
because the date fell mid week.

Thalia's teacher was celebrating it by having green day
and she reminded the parents of the fact the night before
when she was doing school reports and STILL Kath forgot!

I do hope that she was not the only child that was not
wearing green.

I did not bother to pull out all the St. Pat's items I
bought two years ago at half price from Spotlight, so
I guess that they will have to wait till next year now.

Stockdale Rd Sports Day 2010

Maddy, Connor and Sam had their sports day last Friday.
Of course Sam did well as everyone expected.

It was Maddy that surprised everyone. Like myself and
Kathy were, she is a plump child and no-one thought she
would win anthing.

The final results were Sam 18 points, Maddy 11 points
and Connor 9 points.

The points were awarded as follows:- 4 points for first,
3 points for second, 2 points for third and 1 point for
fourth.

Sam had three first and two seconds. Maddy had two firsts,
a third and a fourth, while Connor had two firsts and a
fourth!

Neither Donald or Karen took a camera to take photoes but
Karen did as Donald said and saved the 'reward cards' to
give to me so that I can scrapbook them later.

A Busy Little Bee

Things are just rushing by.

I remember the days of 'my youth' when it seemed eternal
from the beginning of one year till it's end. But now
if I blink it seems that three months have gone past and
I have not done a third of what I planned to do in that
time!

It was Brooke's birthday at the end of February and Anne's
birthday today and tomorrow it is Maddy's and the gift
certificates I ordered only arrived yesterday and today!

So Meg came over last week end with the girls but I
explained that they had not arrived, but I would see that
they would get them when they arrived. Luckily Maddy is
in Traralgon on the weekend so I can give her, her present
on her birthday!!!

An Accident Just Rushing to Happen

As I came into the Tarwin and George St roundabout today,
after leaving the shop at 1.30 p.m. a car coming along
George St, (heading east, thus having me on his right)did
not give way but rushed straight into the roundabout. I
however did see him and put my brakes on. I was just luck
that there was no car following me other wise I would have
been wearing it up my a.s.

He did a wide wild turn north into Tarwin St and sped away.
I took note of his number plate PQI 828.

Then when I was going up McDonald St I noticed he was behind
me again. He must have gone all the way around by the other
bridge trying to avoid the lights. But it actually gained him
nothing as he was still behind me!

Just after the Leisure center roundabout he tried to overtake
me. Mind you I was sitting on 60-61 km in a 60 zone. But
the car in the right hand lane slowed and turned up Donald St.
So he was forced to pull back behind me to avoid running up
the other car's rear. But as soon as possible he was over
taking me just before Holmes Rd. He must have being doing
70 kms at least.

Just rushing to have an accident!!

One Good Thing.

I noticed that this is the 15th blog for the month of
February. As it only has 28 days this year that is
nearly every second day. Much better than the New
Year's Resolution to have at least two blogs a week.

However it is actually the 1st March here in Aussie land.

For the third week in a row we had to call the RACV.

They will soon have Cliff's address on speed dial. I
notded that Beryl does have the RACV in her mobile
phone and thought I must do the same.

Anyway it was her flat battery again. It was for her
flat baterry in the first week. Mine in the second
and now hers again. But unlike me she won't accept
that she needs a new battery.

The man told her she has to run the car for at least
half an hour to charge it up but she had no petrol
and said she could not do that!!

I'm sure she will ring me tomorrow and let me know
what is happening.

Feeling Better

Funny but when you are feeling down and scraping the
bottom of the barrel everyonne says it can't get any
worse and yet I find that no comfort because for me
it always gets worse!

Still feeing stressed out but coping with it much
better.

Meg cooked tea last night after she got home from
netball. It was just for her but the left overs
were for our lunch today.

Anyhow, her mobile rang and she got talking for about
an hour. I had thought she had tea, so wasn't looking
at the stove and I have NO sense of smell, but about
an hour later she comes into my room and says

"Can't YOU smell that?"

"What says I"

She then tries to blame me because she has burnt the
rice for the tea and lunch.

She is also insising that I do the washing up as she
COOKS. But she wants me to do ALL the washing up even
for the night when she doesn't cook for me!!

She also informs me she is sick of yelling at me.
(Surprise, surprise I am sick of it too!!!) She says
she going to move into a unit and I think that is
silly as she will be paying $120 a week and that is
money she could save towards her new house. It will
take about five years if she does that and only about
two years if she stays with me to reach her target!
The gap between what the bank will lend her and the
cost of the house she wants.

Will have to see if I can talk sense into her.
