Shoe Room

I was watching "The Italian Job" the other day and at the
end of the film it says that the guy with the loss of
hearing in his right ear was able to buy the house he
wanted on the Spanish Rivera and he EVEN HAD A ROOM JUST
FOR HIS SHOES.

My idea of heaven.

I even liked the shoe display closet that Goldie Hawn
had built by Kurt Russell in "Overboard."

So this week I finally got round to cleaning out my old
'study.' There was heaps of paper to be thrown out. All
my writing is now in the filing cabinet leaving the new
study clear for this years work...on writing.

The desk in the old study is now set up as my scrapbook
center. The old shevles are now emptied so I have
started to get boxes from shoe shops and put my shoes
into them and put them on the shelves.

The extra wood cost $41, which I thought was outrageous!
Coated shelving units cost about the same!!

The brackets for the shelves of course were not available
so I had to buy two other sets in the hope that one set
would fit. Of course it was the most expensive set that
fitted. A cost of $24 for 4 brackets.

Now I have to photograph the shoes, load the pictures
into the computer, print them out, cover the boxes with
paper and stick the pictures on the boxes, at least a
two week job!

But the room looks really good.

Tuesday, 15th January, 2008.

Cliff liked the idea of the new bed! so much so that he said he
would pay for a new bed base as the old one was just two bits of
wood on a wooden box. He even went into Ed...and found one that
he liked. Of course it was all old dark wood, but as he's paying
for it I can't complain.

Why do men like dark wood? what's wrong with a blonde wood? they
prefer blondes but is that only in their women?

So I went in and checked it out, OK. It has two side tables and
a tallboy. Of course I realised right away what the attraction
was...the tallboy...a place of his own to put his things. A space
he doesn't have to share with me!!!

Ed...said he would deliver it Tuesday, so I worked all day Tuesday
clearing out my room to make way for the new set.

Jess said she was not going to help with the mess as she didn't
make it. But I never asked her to help with the mess I just wanted
help moving the furniture out and getting the mattress off the bed.
She didn't seem to mind that.

Ed...even gave me a new mattress on loan till my one comes. He and
Cliff took the old bed and base around to Donald's for me, so that
was good.

Donald is going to get rid of the twenty year old bed that Karen
left at his house.

Now I have to get the study cleaned so that I can put the shoes and
hat rack in there and that way I can fit the tallboy where they were
on Cliff's side of the bed.

Inconsiderate Drivers

Thank God that after twenty years Latrobe Council say that they
are in the last stages of finalising the by pass for Traralgon.

Beryl lives on Princes Highway in Traralgon and it gets worse
every weekend trying to back out of her driveway.

Sometimes we are there for five minutes as a line of fifty or so
cars go past. But the worse part is that we could get out if they
only moved to the RIGHT HAND LANE, but no they all follow like
sheep staying in the left hand lane. Of course when you look at
the drivers 90% of them are male! They think they own the road!
and no one else is entitled to come onto their turf!

It is the same trying to turn from Kosciusko Street heading for
downtown Traralgon. I have to use the bike lane which is OK, if
some idiot hasn't parked there!

A New Bed

On Monday January the 7th 2008 I went to a free dinner given by
W... to promote their mattresses and bedding products.

It was held at the Morwell Bowling Club. I asked Cliff and Don
Jr and Meg to come along.

Why?...because my mattress that is twelve yeras old broke another
spring (that makes three) and this one was poking into me!

I ended up buying the Queensize bed. Downsizing. It will cost
$4,000 all up over 18 months, interest free. They said it will
last twenty years. At that price I expect it too. But hopefully
it will be good for my asthma and hayfever as well as my bad back.

They will be sending it in the first week of February so I have a
lot of cleaning up to do in my bedroom to fit it in.

Jess

I picked up my granddaughter Jess today. She is coming to be my
'slave' for the week and help her old granny out.

The idea was she was to do three hours work for me and when I had
my nanny nap in the afternoon she could go on My Space.

I thought I would feed her the frozen Chinese meals I had. But
that turned out to be a problem as she doesn't like Chinese. What
granchild of mine doesn't like Chinese???

She cut the lawn and what takes me an 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours,
depending on the heat, took her three hours. It was the first
time she had cut a lawn. Sarah usually does Mum's lawn for her.

Well all up it cost me $100 to have her for the week. So it ended
up being pretty expensive help, and she never did take the photos
of my shoes for me and down load them into the computer!

Now I have to find the time to do that myself.

"Paper tole cats" and others Mysteries.

Bugger me the paper tole cats turned up lose in the car. Yet I know
I put them in the tote. Yes they were in a panamax box so that
means a third box come out of thin air!!!

Yesterday came home after spending the weekend at Cliff's to find:-

1. The screen door was not locked and I had double checked it to
make sure it was before I left Friday.
Then when I went to the freezer to put ice in my water, I found that
2. One ice cube tray had been upset and water spilled out of it so
that there were no ice cubes. I had filled it last thing before
going out on Friday night,
and
3. a strange bottle of frozen water was next to the tray. When I
mean strange I mean a bottle of water, of a brand, that I have never
bought!!!

Who has been sneaking into my house when I'm not here??

Nothing seems to be missing so am hard pressed to understand what is
happening.

Looks like I have to go to the expense of changing the locks.

Scrapbooking Started

I put the Printshop on the computer all by myself, but it did not do
as the instructions said. Meg will look at it during the week for
me. (August and she still has to look at it!!!)

I used it yesterday (Thursday) to edit some old photos, pleased with
some, disapponinted with others. I thought for $80 I'd get a far
better result.

Put in Jasmine's birth. Donald's zoo visit and Donald's Soccer. I
have nearly finished the Zoo visit. Not too bad. There were two
marks on Don Snr's face don't know where they came from, but you only
notice them up close.

Very pleased with the new inks and the photos printed on the glossy
paper. I did get four to the sheet (actually five on each). So
they should do all the kid's books (I hope!)

Spend two hours cutting out three cats and paper toled them and
emptied out a panamax box to put them in so they would not get bent
and wrote on the box "Paper tole cats" and put in in my craft tote.
Now they have gone!! Worse I have two boxes of Full panamax tablets!!
Yet I emptied one out. Neither box has any writing on it. Where
did this spare box come from? I was out of headache tablets on
Friday and bought two boxes only from the chemist!!! I couln't have
imagined the whole thing!!

New Year's Eve

"Help" (The Beatles Film) was on Prime and as I had not seen it
since I was a teenager I decided to watch it.

They put a documentary on about The Beatles music being used in
one of those circus shows and as it commenced, a 'hoon' reved
his bike and took off down the street. A few minutes later it
happened again and it kept going on, for half an hour, I went
outside and it was some neighbours (young blokes reving a three
wheeled off road bike riding it on the footpath). I asked them
to stop reving the bike as I couldn't hear my T.V. despite the
fact I had the volumn on the top level. Thankfully they did stop
and no-one smashed anything during the night. I had asked
politely and said "please."

The first time I saw "Help" I was with the Burke kids and their
friend Michael. Michael sat next to me and held my hand. He
was my first boyfriend. I was 15 and he was 17. I saw him for
three years and then he floored me by asking me to marry him!!
I said no, as I wanted to be a teacher. (In those days most
married women did not work.)

We broke up and he tried to kiss me goodbye. It was my first
kiss! but as he darted towards me I instinctively backed away
and he ended up pecking me on the forehead. I didn't want my
first kiss to be with someone I was breaking up with!!!

Any way I watched the film and now realise why I couldn't remember
it. It was crap. I also realised where the Monkees producers
got the stupid ideas for the nonsensical movies they made...
from the Beatles!!

I rang Donald at 11.45 p.m. to wish him a Happy New Year. He
was at Ryan's celebrating with Nathan.

So I rang Kath and she said she had given her blessing for Nathan
to go off and she was having a great time curled up on their
bed with the three girls watching the New Year in, on Channel
Ten. I was still on Prime. I rang off at five minutes to
midnight so we could watch our sets.

I took photos of the fireworks in Melbourne from the T.V. and I
wonder how they will turn out. (Some not too bad. Others crap.)

Meg said she was going to the Harbour to watch the fireworks on
the Bridge so I asked her to get lots of pictures for me and I
can featured them on a New Year's Eve scrapbook page. (August
now and I have still to get them from her!!!)

I did see some of the Sydney fireworks on New Year's Day when
they gave a recap in the news about the riot that took place
and the fact that 96 people were arrested!!

Friday 28th December, 2007.

Had a sore throat for two days and what with holidays over New
Year decided to go to the doctor and get him to look at it.

I also had a sinus type (blocked up behind the eyes) headache.
He asked if my eyes were watering and I said only if I read too
much, which I always do.

He listened to my chest and said it was clear and that he had
seen a lot of sore throats this week and it was most likely a
virus. This was at 4 p.m.

By 8 p.m. that night I was coughing up great globs of yellow
phlegm, which tasted vile!!

So to the Doctor on Monday morning. Had to go to Cliff's doctor
as I was in Traralgon and he listened and said "Yes" I had
bronchitis ( which is what I had thought; after all I have
suffered from it and asthma for the last fifty five years!!!)

So he gives me medication and says "Go home put your feet up,
rest, no driving around and NO DRINKING."

For God's sake it IS New Year's Eve! I had a half a small glass
to see the year in and didn't go to Sue and Allen's barbeque,
though Cliff and his mum did (with my blessing) so I had the
house to myself and could finally watch what I wanted, on T.V.
