What a day Meg asked me to take her to VIC Roads
as she needed to get a new set of plates to put on
her old car before she traded it in.
It was going to cost about $30 and she wanted me to
put it on my credit card. As she is leaving hers
as blank as she can for the trip to England later
this year.
She then decided that she would order a new plate
for the front of the car as the personalised plate
she has is damaged. She then noticed that the new
plates have Victoria- The Place TO Be while the ones
she has have Victoria - On The Move. She said that
it would look odd to have a different one on the
front from the one on the back. To order a replace-
ment plate is $29:80. So to order the pair is $59.60.
So that doubled her cost! Then she thought she
would have the slim line version and that took the
price to $117! This does not included the cost of
$100 to transfer the number plates to the new car!
Then she decided that she wanted to have a look at
the different colours available! At this point the
woman said that she had an appointment waiting.
Why she took a customer when it was so close to the
appointment time is beyond me!
Meg decided that she would go with the navy blue and
white lettering as her NEXT car was going to be blue!
I pointed out that could be ten years away and she
might need new plates by then anyway!
Of course every time she changed her mind I cracked up
laughting she is just sooooo fussy! The woman was not
impressed as each time Meg changed her mind she had to
cross out the paperwork. In the end Meg decided that
she would wait until she actually got the new car and
then put the plates up against it and chose the colout
then. The woman had by this point mentioned that she
had an appointment 3-4 times. She tore up the paper
work with what I thought was a great deal of enthusiasm.
